Abstract: The purpose of this course is to expose the student to algebraic topics from equations through determinants.

Audience: Community college and high school students.

Chapter 1 covers fundamental mathematical concepts such as basic equations, coefficients and exponents, monomials and polynomials, factoring and absolute values.

Chapter 2 covers equations and inequalities, logarithms and quadratic equations.

Chapter 3 covers functions beginning with basic relationships, graphing functions and inverse functions, evaluating functions, polynomial division and factorials.

Chapter 4 covers graphing from graphing equations through line segments, circles, simultaneous linear equations and quadratic equations.

Chapter 5 covers selected topics such as rational functions, asymptotes, binomial expansion, sequences and series, matrices and determinants.
